Curcumin And Resveratrol May Suppress HPV+ Tumors

Curcumin And Resveratrol May Suppress HPV+ Tumors

Combining Curcumin with Resveratrol can repolarise tumor-associated macrophages. This may trigger the immune system to suppress HPV+ tumors according to recent studies. The findings of the February 2018 study were published in Cancer Immunol Immunother.

What Is HPV+?

HPV+ refers to HPV-positive oropharyngeal cancer. It is common amongst healthy adults and is often transmitted via sexual conduct such as via sex, although smoking tobacco can also increase the risk.

Viruses like HPV are very common STDs. 80 per cent of sexually active people are estimated to contract it at some point in their lives.

You can screen (check) for cervical cancer with a Pap test and/or an HPV test. Regular screening will detect virtually all pre-cancerous changes and cervical cancers.

Prevention is always better than cure however. For this reason it’s highly recommended to prevent HPV before it has a chance to develop into a more life-threatening condition.

Why Curcumin And Resveratrol?

Earlier studies show that combining Curcumin with Resveratrol and other polyphenols can lower the micromolar range for cultured HPV+ TC-1 cells. In contrast, due to rapid degradation in vivo, Curcumin reaches only low nano-molar concentrations in the plasma. These are sub-lethal to tumor cells.

As Curcumin is injected however, a dramatic suppression of tumors were seen within the test subjects. This created suppression to TC-1 cell-implanted mice (TC-1 mice) and xenografts of Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma (HNSCC) cells in the nude mice.

Researchers tested the mice for anti-tumor activity evoked by using the Curcumin formula to evoke innate and adaptive immune responses.

Curcumin Research Findings Into HPV+

The Curcumin formulation injection repolarised arginase1 (ARG1), IL10, inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), IL12M2-type tumor-associated macrophages (TAM) into ARG1, IL10, iNOS, and IL12M1-type TAM in HPV+ tumors. The M1 TAM displayed sharply suppressed macrophages (TAM) into ARG1, IL10, iNOS and IL12Mi-type TAM in HPV+ tumors.

The M1 TAM displayed sharply suppressed STAT3 and induced STAT1 and NF-kB. The study also found that STAT1 and NF-kB function synergistically induced iNOS and IL12 transcription.

Neutralising IL12 signalling with an IL12 antibody evades the Curcumin induced intra-tumor entry of activated natural killer (NK) cells and Cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTL), thereby confirming that IL12 triggers recruitment of NK cells and CTL.

The activated NK cells and CTL join with the M1 TAM to elicit apoptosis of the E6+ tumor cells. Corroboratively, neutralising IL12 signalling also partially reversed the Curcumin mediated apoptosis.

Therefore the research shows that injecting Curcumin and Resveratrol can elicit an M2 →M1 switch in TAM, accompanied by IL12-dependent intra-tumor recruitment of NK cells and CTL and elimination of cancer cells.

Taking Curcumin and Resveratrol together could potentially help to reduce and eliminate any cancer cells, suppressing the formation of HPV+ tumors in the process.

Add Liposomal Vitamin C Into Your Supplement Routine

Incidentally, taking Liposomal Vitamin C can also have a major impact on cancerous cells. One study showed that high-doses of Vitamin C can kill cancer cells. It is the super high concentration of Vitamin C in the blood that gives it the ability to attack cancer cells.

When Vitamin C breaks down it generates hydrogen peroxide and this can damage tissue and DNA. The study also shows that tumor cells with low levels of catalase enzyme activity are much less capable of removing hydrogen peroxide than normal cells.

Therefore, cancerous cells are more susceptible to damage and death when exposed to high doses of Vitamin C. Taken alongside the Curcumin and Resveratrol, Liposomal Vitamin C can have a powerful effect on tumorous or cancerous cells.
